Introduction to Macromedia Dreamweaver/Fireworks MX

3-day workshop, $380 +tax
9:00 am-4:00 pm


This course is designed primarily for new or prospective Web designers who want to use Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks MX to create Web sites. The first day and a half the student will explore Dreamweaver MX: with a hands-on instruction book that will introduce you to the basics of the Macromedia Dreamweaver MX Web development application. The second and third days of class the student will use Macromedia Fireworks to create vector graphics, edit bitmap graphics, optimize images, and create and assign rollover effects for the Web.

By the end of the class the student will understand the differences between bitmap and vector graphics, use Dreamweaver and Fireworks to create and manipulate complex vector graphics and apply effects, textures, and patterns to a web page, understand the GIF, JPEG, and PNG file formats to choose the right one for each kind of image, create hotspots to assign links, alt text, and link targets, among other topics.

To ensure your success, you must have a basic understanding of your computer's operating system and understand the concept of hyperlinks and navigating a basic website. No previous knowledge of the creation of a website is necessary. For example, you should know how to launch applications, like Internet Explorer and type in a web addresses or click to hyperlinks, but not necessarily know how the variety of objects on a web page work.
